BLACKPOOL: A Family Favourite

image1Blackpool is a family friendly holiday destination that everyone can enjoy. Situated in Lancashire, next to the sea, the beautiful Blackpool promenade provides great views, food and attractions. Blackpool boasts being the only UK holiday destination that can provide its visitors with two seasons, meaning a holiday in Blackpool – whatever the weather, is never dull!

The usual summer season where Blackpool provides the traditional ice-cream and fish and chips on the beach makes way for the equally as exciting autumn/winter season. This is where Blackpool really comes into its own, with miles of stunning lights that make am illuminations tour you will never forget. One routine Blackpool holidaymaker said “The lights bring tourists from all over the world and it’s always exciting when the big ‘switch on’ happens” (usually by a popular celebrity).

The recent refurbishment of the promenade and famous Blackpool Tower and ballroom has given the classic seaside destination a fresh, new style. From the unique opportunities to get married by the sea in the new registry office near North Pier, to the iconic Blackpool Tower, visible from miles away, visitors will never get bored. The three piers on the seafront are full of fun activities such as ten pin bowling, amusement arcades and rides for all the family.

Blackpool transport is another strong point of the seaside town. With two train stations that connect Blackpool with cities all over the country, it’s easy to understand why it’s such a popular holiday destination. Children love the trams helping people to navigate the busy seafront, and are an attraction in themselves as they transform into toy trains and ships during the illuminations tours. You may find it easier to leave your car at your hotel as a short tram or bus ride is the quickest way from one end of the bustling promenade to the other. The traditional transport of horse and cart is still an integral part of Blackpool transport, proving a modern seaside destination can still keep its historical roots.

Across the promenade there are a wide range of hotels, perfect for whatever price range you’re looking for. Whether you are on the sea front, or a couple of streets back wherever you go expect good food and great service. Blackpool is a holiday destination that often prefers a family feel, rather than the all too perfect service sometimes seen in London. Many of the hotels in Blackpool have been running for many years and have loyal guests – so remember, book early!

For the parents there are no shortage of things to keep your children entertained, particularly with the recent addition of Nickelodeon land to the already thriving Pleasure Beach. Easily accessible by tram or bus just past South Pier the amusement park has enough rides for a whole day packed full of fun. Particularly popular is the traditional ‘Big Dipper’ rollercoaster, one of the oldest of its kind in the world.

What is there not to love about Blackpool? A great destination for all the family.
